The Odd Couple: Why This Week’s Pairing Actually Works
Most weeks Epic pairs two games that feel vaguely similar. This week they went a completely different direction — and it makes the offer more appealing, not less. Whether you’re someone who unwinds by micromanaging a digital amusement park or someone who enjoys grinding through challenging underground boss fights, there’s a game here with your name on it.
Management Sim
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition
Build, manage, and ride your own theme park empire. A remastered classic with both expansion packs bundled in.
Metroidvania
Voidwrought
A dark, hand-drawn action platformer set in ancient ruins. Fight gods, collect relics, and uncover a cosmic mystery.
🎢 RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition — The Comeback King

If you were a PC gamer in the mid-2000s, there’s a good chance you lost entire weekends to this game. Originally launched back in 2004, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 was the series’ bold leap into full 3D — and it landed brilliantly. The Complete Edition that arrived in 2020 polished things up for modern machines: full 1080p widescreen, improved hardware compatibility, and every last piece of downloadable content baked right in.
The game does one thing really well — it gives you a sandbox and lets your imagination (and your budget) run wild. You start with an empty plot of land and turn it into a sprawling amusement destination. Staff to hire, prices to set, rides to design, and guests who have very specific opinions about all of it.
What You Get in the Complete Edition
It’s worth noting that RCT3 was actually pulled from Steam and GOG back in 2018 following a legal dispute. The 2020 Complete Edition brought it back — and this is actually the second time Epic has offered it for free (the first was at launch in September 2020). If you missed it then, now’s your chance.
⚔️ Voidwrought — Dark, Fast, and Surprisingly Deep

On the completely opposite end of the spectrum sits Voidwrought, developed by Swedish indie studio Powersnake and published by Kwalee. It dropped in October 2024 to solid reviews (a 73 on OpenCritic) and earned a consistent comparison to Hollow Knight — which, in the Metroidvania world, is about as high a compliment as you can get.
You step into the role of the Simulacrum — a being on a mission to reclaim the blood of gods from the nightmarish creatures that stole it. Your journey takes you through hand-drawn biomes beneath a scorched surface, into underground ruins of a long-dead civilisation, and eventually into dimensions that should probably not exist.
Why Voidwrought Stands Out
Players who’ve finished it describe the movement as genuinely satisfying and the music as a proper highlight. The consensus is pretty clear: Voidwrought doesn’t unseat Hollow Knight as the genre’s gold standard, but as a free pickup? It absolutely punches above its weight class.

Frequently Asked Questions
Grab Both — You’d Pay $40 for These Any Other Day
This is one of Epic’s stronger weekly drops in a while. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition holds up remarkably well for a 20-year-old game, and the sandbox mode alone can swallow entire evenings. Voidwrought is a tight, well-crafted Metroidvania that’s genuinely enjoyable — particularly if you’ve been wanting to explore the genre but haven’t found the right entry point.
The deadline is July 2. Claiming them takes under three minutes. Don’t overthink this one.
