Dead by Daylight is turning ten this month — and Behaviour Interactive is making sure everyone notices. The studio just launched the game’s newest chapter featuring Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, and to celebrate a full decade of asymmetric horror, they’ve made the base game completely free to play on Steam through June 22.
If you’ve somehow never played it: one player takes control of a Killer (Jason, Ghostface, Freddy, and dozens more) while four Survivors work together to repair generators and escape before they become a sacrifice to a cosmic entity called The Entity. It sounds simple; it absolutely isn’t. The tension this game generates with five players in a single match is something very few horror games can replicate.
The 10th anniversary celebrations also came with a promo code that hands every player 10 million Bloodpoints — the in-game currency used to level up characters and unlock perks. That’s a genuinely massive head start for new players. Behaviour Interactive is also confirming several major content drops for the rest of 2026, including collaborations with Scooby-Doo and Silent Hill, along with a full graphical overhaul planned for 2027.

If you’ve been sleeping on Citizen Sleeper — and the game would absolutely appreciate the irony of that phrasing — this is your moment. This award-winning narrative RPG from solo developer Gareth Damian Martin (Jump Over the Age) carries an 82 on Metacritic and was nominated at The Game Awards back in 2022. It’s the kind of game that stays with you long after you’ve put it down.
You play as a Sleeper — a digitized human consciousness stuffed inside a corporate-owned android body, freshly escaped and stranded on Erlin’s Eye, a decaying space station full of people scraping by at the fringes of an interstellar capitalist society. Every day you roll a handful of dice, then decide where to spend them: taking a job to earn credits, deepening a relationship with a crew member, investigating a faction, or desperately managing the decay eating through your synthetic body.
It draws from the bones of tabletop RPGs, which means your playthrough is shaped entirely by your choices, your relationships, and occasionally some rotten dice luck. The writing is exceptional throughout — warm and melancholy in equal measure, and genuinely interested in the people living on the margins of its world.

ROBOBEAT earns its caps-lock branding. This is a first-person rhythm shooter roguelite from developer Simon Fredholm, and it’s landing alongside Citizen Sleeper as Epic’s other free pick this week — which makes for a genuinely wild pair of games in the same giveaway.
You play as Ace, a bounty hunter chasing down an eccentric robot showman named Frazzer through his warped techno-playground. The key mechanic is that everything you do is more effective when it’s in sync with the beat. Wall-run, slide, bunny-hop, and shoot to the rhythm and you feel unstoppable. Break the beat and things get messy fast.
What makes it stick beyond that core hook is the depth underneath: procedurally generated levels, a roguelite upgrade system that changes your arsenal every run, and — here’s the best part — a custom music editor that lets you upload your own tracks. The game auto-generates beats from whatever you throw at it, which means you can run through robot hordes to literally any song in your library.
ROBOBEAT sits at an 83 on Metacritic and is regularly listed alongside BPM: Bullets Per Minute as one of the best entries in the rhythm-shooter genre. Grab it alongside Citizen Sleeper before June 25.

This one carries a bit of a story with it. Prologue: Go Wayback! is the survival game from Brendan Greene — better known as PlayerUnknown, the creator of PUBG — and his studio PlayerUnknown Productions. It launched into Steam Early Access in November 2025 at $20, was once described by Greene himself as a sort of “realistic Minecraft,” and was widely considered one of the more interesting upcoming survival games thanks to its insane procedural world generation tech.
Then, in June 2026, the studio announced it was halting development. The team ran out of funding, laid off staff, and couldn’t sustain work on an experimental project of this scale. The final update dropped this week — the game left Early Access in an unfinished state. The studio’s focus is now on preserving Melba, their in-house machine-learning engine that generates planet-scale procedural worlds, which was always the real long-term goal.
On the way out the door, PlayerUnknown Productions did two things: made Prologue permanently free, and offered unrestricted refunds to anyone who previously paid for it — with no time-played limit and no “bought it too long ago” restriction, valid for 60 days until August 17, 2026.
So what do you actually get? A single-player open-world survival experience where a new 64km² map is generated fresh every run. You start in a woodland cabin with no quest markers, no waypoints, and no hand-holding — just hunger, thirst, temperature, and a distant Weather Tower somewhere out there. Each run is completely different. The studio hopes to return to it one day; for now, it’s yours to keep.

Rounding out the list is a smaller indie game that just quietly made the switch to free this week. Soul of the Dungeon is a top-down, wave-based rogue-lite action game from solo developer Karaoglan Games — launched on Steam in August 2025 and now fully free-to-play with no strings attached.
The premise is exactly what it sounds like: you’re dropped into a dark dungeon, hordes of enemies come at you in waves, you collect gold, upgrade your skills, and try not to die. Every wave is harder than the last; every death teaches you something. It’s pixel-art, fast-paced, and built for the kind of quick session where you tell yourself “just one more run” and suddenly it’s been two hours.
Karaoglan Games made the switch to free as a show of faith to the community while they shift focus to their next project, Rusty Giants: Low Gear. Soul of the Dungeon isn’t a blockbuster, but for a free wave-survival roguelite with Steam Achievements and leaderboards, there’s plenty here to scratch that itch.
