Most of us have a shoebox of audio CDs somewhere, a folder of MP3s with “Unknown artist” plastered across every track, and at least one video with a song we’d love to keep as a standalone file. Juggling three or four free tools to sort that mess out gets old fast.
Ashampoo Music Studio 2027 rolls all of it into one window. Thanks to a promotion originally run with the German tech publication COMPUTER BILD, you can pick up the full version free — no trial timer, no watermark, no card details. We claimed our own copy, installed it on a Windows 11 PC and loaded a batch of our own tracks before writing this up, so the screenshots below are from our machine, not a press kit.
What Can Ashampoo Music Studio 2027 Actually Do?
The home screen asks one simple question — “What would you like to do?” — and splits the answer into eight tiles. No ribbon menus, no hunting through settings. Pick a job and the app walks you through it one step at a time.
In our own testing we worked mainly with the Organize and Modify tools on local audio files, and clicked through every other module to see what each one offers. Where a detail comes from Ashampoo’s product listing rather than our hands-on use, we say so.
1. Organize your music files
We pointed the Organize tool at seven Telugu film songs sitting in a download folder. Music Studio listed them instantly with titles, running times and a total duration (27:23), plus a built-in player to preview each one. Notice the “Unknown artist” and “Unknown album” columns — that’s exactly the kind of mess the tag editor (see Modify below) is there to fix.
2. Rip CDs and burn discs
According to Ashampoo, ripping pulls album, artist and track details from a large online database and saves songs as MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG or FLAC, with your choice of quality and file-naming pattern.
Going the other way, the Burn section offers five options: a regular Audio CD, a straight CD copy, an MP3 disc, a WMA disc and a mixed-format disc. An MP3 or WMA disc can hold hundreds of songs — handy for older car stereos and DVD players that still read them. The COMPUTER BILD listing adds that discs can be written to CD, DVD or Blu-ray, and that existing playlists (M3U, PLS, ASX, WPL and others) can set the running order.
3. Edit, split, tag and normalise
Under Modify you’ll find a compact Music Editor and a file splitter, plus four tools: Edit file tags, Convert audio files, Analyze files and Normalize. That means you can snip out a dull intro, add silence, fade a track in or out, chop a long recording into fixed-length pieces (say, every 30 seconds), and bring a whole folder of songs to the same volume so you’re not riding the volume knob between tracks. Conversion also works in batches on entire folders.
4. Pull the soundtrack out of any video
The Video to Music tile grabs the audio from a clip and saves it as MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC or WAV. Trim it, adjust the volume, add a fade — useful for ringtones or keeping that one live performance you love.
5. Mix Tape: a party playlist that plays itself
Load your songs in order, and Music Studio renders one long audio file with smooth crossfades between each track. No DJ software, no timeline fiddling — a nice touch for anyone who hosts get-togethers.
6. Playlists, recording and CD covers
- Playlist Generator: Ashampoo lists M3U8, M3U, PLS, WPL, CUE and XSPF output, so playlists work with most players and devices.
- Record: capture sound from your sound card, a microphone or a webcam and save it in the format you like.
- Edit Cover: design and print CD covers, booklets, inlays and disc labels from built-in templates (including Zweckform paper sizes). The COMPUTER BILD listing also mentions direct printing onto printable CDs with compatible Brother, Canon, Epson and HP printers.
