Defragmentation of your system Hard disk on regular basis is essential to keep your system run smooth, because fragmentation of data may lead to slow down your PC. Certainly defragging your hard disk can speed up your system, as it moves all files in sequence, but along with speed improvement there is also one draw back lies in the process as we don’t know when to do defragmentation, unnecessary defragmentation may become disaster and can kill your Hard disk.

So we need a tool to tell when it is time do defragmentation and this free software O&O SpeedCheck is exactly designed for that purpose which helps you to decide whether there will be any benefits on defragmenting your hard drive.

O&O SpeedCheck  is standalone program requires no installation and runs from wherever it’s situated. With O&O SpeedCheck you can simulate your Windows system in a fragmented and defragmented state.

No data is written in the simulation, it simply reads test data from the hard disk. After completion of the simulation you will be shown a comparison of the two test times, and the possible increase in speed available to you. You can see just how much your PC could be accelerated by regular and thorough defragmentation.

The process is split into two phases: simulated reading of files that are fragmented, and simulated reading of the same files had they been defragmented. No real files are used for the reading. Files are read continuously one after the other on a hard disk level from the start of partition C:.

During the reading process of fragmented files, the test files are opened and read operations are carried out according to the number of fragments the files are split into. This simulates how the operating system reads fragmented files. The reading process of the defragmented files is done in one read operation and loaded into the memory.

  1. This program is utter rubbish! My system is defragged and optimized regularly and yet it says I could get a possible increase of 34.37% if I defragged! Even a heavily fragged drive probably wouldn’t give that kind of performance increase. Oh, it also gave me a slightly lower but similar result with my SSD system.

It’s a bit confusing what this tool is trying to say, is it saying ‘you would get this kind of speed boost if every file on your system was this fragmented’? A tool to sell their defrag software me thinks…..

    1. You missed the point! This program just shows the difference between fragmented and defragmented system. Hypotetically! Your actual status (defragmented or not) is irrelevant. This is just simulation, and if your disk is perfectly defragmented that’s it.

      1. If I’m missing the point, can you tell me what this tool is actually good for?
If it just shows the difference between a fragmented and defragmented system, why does it need to analyse and run a simulation to tell me that if it actually has no relevance to my current system!
Call me cynical, but a tool which flashes up some scary random numbers which have little, or no meaning at all, and then offers you the chance to try their defrag software trial is nothing more than a rather useless marketing tool.

      2. Well, lets just say you run 3DMark… Do you expect that it has some impact on your CPU or GPU speed? No, it just measures their speed and performance.
Similarly, this is just some kind of benchmarking software because it shows reading times in case your drive is fragmented and in case your drive is not fragmented.
And I can agree that this is marketing tool, but there are people who will never defragment, and this tool can show them why they should do defragmentation.

  2. Well,I ran it,told me I could increase by 63% Defragged with Auslogics-told me 61% increase still possible.DL’d and installed their defragmenter (v.15)-ran that til I got 0.00% fragmentation, and back to the analyzer which tells me I can still gain 53% !! If there is a point to this “program”,I’m sure as hell missing it!!
