Steganos Privacy Suite 22 Free for 1 Year (2026): How to Claim It

You can get Steganos Privacy Suite 22 free for 1 year right now through a ComputerBild 2026 promotion. It’s the full Windows version, with Steganos Safe, Password Manager and Shredder included. Activation is linked to a free mySteganos account. In my activation, there was no serial key to enter and no payment card was requested.

I claimed the offer on my own account on 26 September 2026 and installed Privacy Suite 22.6.5 on Windows 11. Then I created an encrypted Safe synced with OneDrive, enabled two-factor authentication for the Safe and set up a Password Manager keychain. This guide shows exactly how activation worked and what you get.

Is Steganos Privacy Suite really free?

Yes. For 12 months, it is. The ComputerBild promotion gives you a year-long Steganos Privacy Suite license at no charge. You’ll need a free mySteganos account, but the activation page didn’t ask me for a serial key or payment card. The promo runs on Steganos’ own customer portal (my.steganos.com), not on a third-party key site.

After I activated it, my account listed the license as a “free partner license” with an expiry date of 26 September 2027. The screenshots in the steps below show each stage.

What is Steganos Privacy Suite?

Steganos is a Berlin-based security company that has been building encryption tools since the late ’90s. We covered their OkayFreedom VPN free-year promo a couple of weeks ago, which also ran through ComputerBild.

The Privacy Suite puts two Steganos products in one launcher:

• Steganos Safe: creates encrypted containers (“safes”) that open as a normal drive letter in File Explorer. When you close a safe, the drive disappears and only an unreadable file is left.
• Steganos Password Manager: stores logins, bank and card details, identities and private notes in an encrypted “keychain”. Browser add-ons fill in your logins for you.

A secure file shredder is included too. The home screen is just four big buttons: open or create a safe, and open or create a keychain.

🔐 Encrypted safes up to 2 TB

Steganos Safe uses AES-XEX encryption with AES-NI hardware acceleration, and each safe can be up to 2 TB. The Password Manager is encrypted separately, with AES-256 and PBKDF2 key derivation. You can keep safes on your internal drive, a USB stick, a network share or inside a cloud folder. The setup wizard detects Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and MagentaCLOUD folders automatically.

🛡️ Extra locks: 2FA, PicPass and a virtual keyboard

The password step of the Safe wizard gives you three extras. Two-factor authentication works with TOTP apps such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy. An on-screen keyboard keeps keyloggers from recording your typing. And PicPass lets you unlock a safe by clicking a sequence of pictures instead of typing a password.

🆘 Emergency password

You can also set an optional emergency password. It gives a trusted family member read-only access to the safe: they can open files but can’t add, edit or delete anything. You can only set it while creating the safe, though. If you skip it, you’ll need a new safe to add one later.

🔑 Password Manager with browser autofill

The keychain holds passwords, bank accounts, cards, identities and notes. Extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Edge save new logins and fill them in automatically. There’s also a password generator and optional reminders to change old passwords. If you’re switching from another manager, you can import from 1Password, LastPass, KeePass (CSV), Chrome and Edge. Store the keychain in the cloud and you can open it with the free Android and iOS apps.

🗑️ Steganos Shredder and hidden safes

The Shredder adds an entry to File Explorer’s right-click menu. Use it on a file or folder and the data is overwritten so recovery tools can’t bring it back. For extra privacy, Steganos can also hide a safe inside another safe, or inside an ordinary picture, music or video file.

How to get Steganos Privacy Suite free for 1 year

The whole process takes about five minutes.

Step 1: Sign in to (or create) a mySteganos account

Go to my.steganos.com and log in with your email and password, or with the Google or Apple buttons. If you’re new, click Sign up, enter your email address, choose a password and confirm the registration.

Step 2: Activate the ComputerBild 2026 offer

Stay logged in and open the ComputerBild 2026 Privacy Suite promo page (button below). The page is in German, but you don’t need to read it. Your account email is already filled in, so just click the green Activate button. The newsletter checkbox is optional.

Step 3: Check the license and download the installer

Go back to Your Licenses on mySteganos. Steganos Privacy Suite now shows up as a “free partner license”. Click Your License to see the end date and the download buttons for Windows, Google Play and the App Store. For Windows, you can also grab the Steganos Privacy Suite 22 download directly from steganos.com (about 79 MB).

Step 4: Install and sign in inside the app

Run the installer and finish the setup. When the app opens for the first time, it asks how you want to start. Skip the 30-day trial option and choose “I already have a mySteganos account”. Enter the same email and password you use on the website, then click Login. Steganos Privacy Suite activation then happens on its own, using the license from your account.

That’s it. You now have the full version for the next 12 months.

What I tested (and what Steganos says)

To create the safe, I clicked the green “+” on the Safe screen and went through the wizard:

1. Picked the recommended option to encrypt data and sync it with cloud storage.
2. Named the safe and chose a free drive letter (Z:).
3. Let the wizard fill in my OneDrive folder as the storage location.
4. Set a password and ticked Use Two Factor Authentication. The strength check flagged part of my test password as a dictionary word, which was a nice touch.

When a safe is open, it shows up in File Explorer as its own drive (Z: in my case), and you can drag files in and out as usual. Close the safe and the drive disappears. All that stays in your cloud folder is the encrypted safe file, which is unreadable without your password.

What happens when the free year ends?

The promotional license lasts 12 months. Mine ends on 26 September 2027. Before the license expires, check Steganos’ current renewal and data-access terms, and make sure you’ve exported anything important you may need, including your Password Manager keychain. If you don’t plan to renew, give yourself a few weeks before the expiry date to do this.

Is the Steganos Privacy Suite giveaway legit?

Based on the activation I went through, it appears to be. The promotion runs on Steganos’ own mySteganos portal in partnership with ComputerBild, and the activated license appeared in my account as a “free partner license”.

Do I need a serial key?

No. The license is tied to your mySteganos account. Just log in inside the app with the same email and password.

Can I claim it outside Germany?

I activated the offer from India without a VPN. Steganos could change who’s eligible at any time, though, so check the promo page if it doesn’t work for you.

Which Windows versions are supported?

I tested Steganos Privacy Suite 22.6.5 on Windows 11 and it worked without problems. If you’re on an older version of Windows, check Steganos’ current system requirements before installing.
