BLACK & WHITE projects 7 free: what you get
The giveaway gets you a personal User ID and registration key for BLACK & WHITE projects 7. You register with an email address, confirm it, and the key appears on screen and in your inbox. Entering it turns the installed program from a trial into the activated full version.
The program converts colour photos into black-and-white images and gives you fine control over how each colour turns into a grey tone. It is aimed at hobby and professional photographers who want more than a simple desaturate button, such as classic film looks, toning, grain and selective edits.

How to get BLACK & WHITE projects 7 for free
The whole process takes about five minutes. The animation below shows every step, from the registration form to the “Activation successful” message.
1. Register on the giveaway page
Open the BLACK & WHITE projects 7 registration page. It should show “BLACK & WHITE projects 7 – COMPUTER BILD-Aktion” as the program. Enter your email address, review the two checkboxes, solve the reCAPTCHA and click Send.
- Data processing: “I agree to the storage and processing of my personal data.”
- Marketing: consent for FRANZIS GmbH and its advertising partner Accelerated Vision UG to email you about selected topics. You can revoke it at any time.
2. Confirm your email address
Within a few minutes you get an email from FRANZIS GmbH with the German subject “Registrierungsbestätigung: BLACK & WHITE projects 7 – COMPUTER BILD-Aktion”. Click the confirmation link inside. If the link wraps over two lines, copy both lines into your browser’s address bar. No email? Check your spam or promotions folder before registering again.
3. Copy your User ID and registration key
The confirmation link opens a Franzis page showing your User-ID and Registration-Key. Copy both into a text file or password manager. Franzis also sends the codes by email. The key is shown above an optional profile form, so you don’t need to fill that in to get it.
4. Download and install
Download the official installer from Franzis: 31557-1_BLACK-WHITE_7_winde.zip (about 594 MB). Extract the ZIP with Windows’ Extract All option, 7-Zip or WinRAR, then run BLACK AND WHITE #7 DE_EN Setup.exe. The wizard confirms it will install version 7.23. Click Next and finish the setup.
5. Activate the full version
On first launch, the activation window says you are in trial mode. Type your name, paste the registration key into the Serial Number field (the “Paste serial number from clipboard” button fills all blocks at once) and click Activate. An “Activation successful” message confirms the full version, and your name appears in the title bar. Franzis says an internet connection is needed once for activation; after that the program works offline.
Key features of BLACK & WHITE projects 7
The points below come from Franzis’ product information and what the program shows on screen, so treat feature claims as the publisher’s description.
- 145 ready-made presets. The preset panel lists 145 looks in 12 groups, including Natural, Landscape, Portrait, Architecture, Street photos, Toning, Light FX, Vignette and Frames. The box advertises “over 140 handcrafted presets”.
- Four greyscale conversion methods. Convert using RGB, HSV, HSL or Luma, with spectral sensitivity and colour-filter controls that decide how bright each colour appears in grey.
- Selective editing module. New in version 7: apply changes only to chosen parts of an image.
- Virtual micro-details and grain. Also new in version 7, for adding texture and an analogue film feel.
- Extended sensor-defect correction. Version 7 improves the cleanup of sensor dust and similar flaws.
- Tone and contrast tools. Channel-based brightness control, gradation curves and micro-contrast, according to Franzis.
- JPEG and RAW import. Load camera RAW files as well as JPEGs, and export for print or screen.
- 4K-ready interface. The box highlights a dynamic interface built for 4K displays.
What changed from the older version 6 giveaway
- Version: The offer is now version 7 (v7.23) instead of version 6, adding selective editing, micro-detail and grain tools, and better sensor-defect correction.
- Platform: The old giveaway covered Windows and Mac. Version 7 is Windows only, so Mac users can’t use this offer.
- Source: The key now comes from the Franzis registration system through the COMPUTER BILD promotion, and the installer comes straight from Franzis’ server.
Limitations to know before you register
- Two newsletters. The form says registering means you agree to receive the Franzis newsletter and the Accelerated Vision newsletter. Each has its own unsubscribe link.
- No Mac version. Only a Windows installer is offered.
- Large download. The installer ZIP is about 594 MB.
- No upgrade promise. Nothing on the giveaway pages says future major versions are included.
- Limited support. Franzis points free users to its FAQ page. If the program won’t start, it suggests restarting your PC and contacting support with your serial number.

📊 Verdict
If you shoot on Windows and like black-and-white photography, BLACK & WHITE projects 7 free is an easy win. You get a €69.95 full version with 145 presets and much finer control than a basic greyscale filter, all in about five minutes.
👍 Good: full version with no time limit, 145 presets, four conversion methods, RAW import, and new selective and grain tools in version 7.
