⚡ Quick Read (30 seconds)

  • What you get: A full license for Vovsoft PDF to Text Converter, a $19 Windows tool, at no cost.
  • What it does: Converts PDF files to plain TXT on your own PC. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
  • Best for: Copying text from reports, invoices, e-books and statements so you can edit, search or reuse it.
  • Key limitation: Images are dropped, and scanned (image-only) PDFs need OCR instead.
  • How to claim: Download the installer or portable ZIP from Vovsoft, then paste the key from the giveaway section below.

PDFs are great for sharing, and a pain to edit. Copy text straight out of one and you often get broken lines, odd spacing, or a document that refuses to let you copy at all. Most quick fixes send you to an online converter, which means uploading your file to someone else’s server. That’s fine for a menu. It’s not fine for a bank statement, a salary slip or a client contract.
Vovsoft PDF to Text Converter takes the offline route. It runs on your Windows PC, reads the PDF locally, and shows you the extracted text in an editor so you can clean it up before saving it as a TXT file. With the Vovsoft weekly giveaway, you can unlock the full version free.

The main window keeps things simple: Load PDF, Save TXT, and a text editor in between.

What Is Vovsoft PDF to Text Converter?

It’s a small, single-purpose utility from Vovsoft, the developer behind tools like OCR Reader and Text Edit Plus. You load one PDF or a whole batch, the app extracts the text, and it shows the result in its main window with line numbers.
From there it behaves like any text editor. You can fix stray line breaks, delete headers you don’t need, and use the usual Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V shortcuts. When it looks right, click Save TXT and pick a folder. You don’t need Adobe Acrobat or any other PDF reader installed.

What’s new in version 1.6 (and 1.5)

The app got two updates in the summer of 2026, its first since early 2024. According to Vovsoft’s changelog:

  • v1.6 (27 July 2026): PDFium, the PDF engine used in Google Chrome, is now the default text engine.
  • v1.5 (26 June 2026): A new Header setting, support for loading files through command-line parameters, and automatic removal of empty lines at the start and end of the extracted text.

If you converted files with an older version and got messy results, it’s worth trying again on 1.6.

Key Features at a Glance

Batch loadingSelect several PDFs at once, or drag and drop them into the window.
Built-in text editorEdit, cut, copy and paste the extracted text before you save it.
Header optionLabel each text block with none, the file name, the folder or the full path, so merged output stays organised.
Command-line supportPass files as parameters for scripts and automation.
Multiple PDF enginesPDFium by default, with other engines to try if a file doesn’t extract cleanly.
Word wrap & reset to defaultsEasier reading of long lines, and a one-click way to undo settings changes.

⚠️ Know the limits before you convert

  • Images are not kept. True to its name, the output is plain text only. Pictures, charts and formatting are dropped.
  • Scanned PDFs need OCR. If your PDF is a photo or scan of a page, there’s no real text layer to extract. Use an OCR tool such as Vovsoft OCR Reader instead.
  • Tables become plain lines. Column layouts come out as text, so you may need to tidy them up, as you can see in the screenshot above.

How to Get Vovsoft PDF to Text Converter for Free

The whole process takes about two minutes. One tip before you start: copy and paste the key instead of typing it. A single mistyped character will give you an invalid-key error.

The 2026 updates, with the PDFium engine, header labels and command-line support, make it more useful than the older versions. Just remember it’s a text extractor, not an OCR tool or a full PDF editor.

Is Vovsoft PDF to Text Converter free?

It’s free to try, and a full license normally costs $19. Through this Vovsoft giveaway, you can activate the full version with a free license key.

Does it upload my PDF files anywhere?

No. Conversion happens entirely on your PC. Vovsoft describes it as an offline converter with no uploads to online servers.

Can it convert scanned PDFs to text?

Yes. You can select several files, drag and drop them into the window, or pass them through command-line parameters. The Header setting labels each file’s text by name, folder or full path.

Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 11, 10, 8/8.1 and 7, in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

What is the latest version?

Version 1.6, released on 27 July 2026, which made PDFium the default PDF engine.

The license key says invalid. What now?

Copy and paste it rather than typing it, and check there’s no extra space at either end. Giveaway keys can also reach an activation limit or be withdrawn by the developer. If it stops working, let us know in the comments.
